Our laboratory tests soil and groundwater samples from our field work and from client sites, and provides the parameters engineers need for design.
What we do
Samples are logged, prepared and tested under the relevant test methods. The laboratory head checks the results before they are issued.
- Physical properties: moisture, density, plasticity, grain size
- Mechanical properties: compressibility, shear strength, swelling
- Chemical analysis of soils and groundwater, including corrosion aggressiveness
- Water quality tests for construction and dewatering
Methods and equipment
- Oedometer and direct shear apparatus
- Triaxial testing for strength parameters
- Equipment for grain size and plasticity limits
- Chemical analysis of sulphates, chlorides and pH
Deliverables
- Test certificates with method references
- Summary tables for design
- Chain-of-custody record for each sample
Typical timeline
Routine soil tests usually take 3 to 5 working days from sample delivery. Strength and triaxial tests take longer.
